South Africa just around the corner.
Time has been short for the amount of things in the agenda, so I'll start writing short posts!
This one is dedicated to the "tip of gold", a gorgeous beach town in the south of Mozambique which I translated "letter by letter", Portuguese name is "Ponta do Ouro". This town is close to the border with South Africa, but the seemingly harmless 170 km from Maputo are driven in about five tumultuous hours, due to the sandy roads.
To see with perspective
The way there is full of African landscapes, this combination with the African music we choose to be playing in the radio transported me to an Out of Africa movie set... only Robert Redford was missing!
This was one of the best roads of the trip, the others I needed to be tight to my seat so, no hands free for the camera.
As if the sandy soil was not enough, some roads on the way were blocked due to some mechanical problems of some of the several trucks that often drive those roads. We were also accompanied by some typical public transport "open box van" with way more people on the top than one could consider comfortable or even safe.
The signs of "Warning Cow" I am used to observe during this kind of trip was replaced by "Warning crocodile". Haven't spotted any of this interesting species unfortunately. But monkeys, goats and bulls were always on our sight.
One of the many African movie sets.
This type of transport is called "My love". I let the meaning of this name to your judgement...
Welcome to Ponta do Ouro
I thought this rock needed some contemporary pose on it.
A modest and friendly lodge literally located upon the beach. It is not shown in the picture, but the sand starts just outside the door.
A picture break on the way back.
I still find this view outstanding. Spotting Maputo at the distance, apparently calm, but imagining the bustle through the streets.
Almost all the pictures are taken by Fábio Lucas, credits to him!

Very nice, I want to swim in the Indian Ocean as well. Keep on posting!
ResponderEliminarQue aventura! :D É uma pena que não tenhas tempo para escrever mais, porque estou a morrer de curiosidade! Essa foto na rocha está qualquer coisa
